Privacy for your website visitors

The widget sets no cookies, uses no local storage and collects nothing about your visitors. Here is what that means for your cookie banner, the GDPR and the DPDP Act.

The review widget is built to be invisible to privacy law, because it collects nothing.

What the widget does not do#

  • It sets no cookies.
  • It uses no local storage or similar browser storage.
  • It does not track visitors, record clicks or build profiles.
  • It does not load advertising or analytics code.

What that means for you#

  • No change to your cookie banner. The widget needs no consent.
  • GDPR and UK GDPR (Europe and the UK): the widget stores nothing on your visitors' devices, so it needs no cookie consent, and it collects no personal data from them for you to declare.
  • DPDP Act (India): adding the widget creates no new personal-data obligations for you, because it collects no personal data from your visitors.
  • US state privacy laws (such as the CCPA): nothing is sold or shared, and there is no tracking to opt out of.
  • Visitors who click a reviewer's name or Write a review go to Google, where Google's own privacy policy applies.

The reviews themselves#

Reviews are public posts on Google. The widget shows each reviewer's public name, photo, rating and text as they appear on Google, and links back to Google.
